I don’t know about you, but we had an unusually wintery winter, so I am beyond thrilled to embrace a new season. Outside my window right now, birds are chirping and flowers are blooming…spring is here. Finally! As a mood reader, I’m excited to read differently than I do during the cozy winter season. This is the perfect time to refresh your reading list with stories that entertain, encourage and offer a little escape from everyday life.
As an author and voracious reader, I’m often drawn to books that feature happy endings. For me, spring is a season for fresh starts, so I gravitate toward uplifting fiction that fits the lighter, brighter vibe. If you’re building your seasonal reading stack here are 7 uplifting books to add to your spring TBR.

For me, summer reading starts around Memorial Day as I start to fully embrace the new releases and beach reads. So I kept this spring reading list mostly focused on brand-new releases and/or books releasing prior to Memorial Day.
Chasing the Clouds Away by Debbie Macomber | Releasing April 28, 2026
An uplifting, opposites attract romance set in Seattle. Preorder your copy here.
Find Me in the Story by Lisa Jordan | Releasing March 24, 2027
This sweet, inspirational romance kicks off season 2 of the Jonathon Island series. I’ve already read an early copy and highly recommend this new release.
Not What We Pictured by Becca Kinzer | Releasing April 21, 2026
Becca’s books are the perfect blend of romance, witty banter and laugh-out-loud humor. So excited for this one!
More Than Friends by Denise Hunter | Releasing April 14, 2026
I’ve read almost everything Denise has published and I am all in on this sweet, low-spice contemporary romance with a strong friends-to-more vibe. Preorder your copy here.
Spies, Lies, & Alibis by Natalie Walters | Releasing May 19, 2026
Natalie is so entertaining to follow on Instagram, and her new book cover caught my attention right away. This just looks like a fun spy romance!
The Police Chief’s Instant Family by Mindy Obenhaus | Releasing March 31, 2026
Love Inspired has introduced a new series called Tumbleweed, Texas. Mindy’s book is third, although each book can be enjoyed as a standalone. I really enjoy Mindy’s ‘voice’ as an author, so I look forward to reading this inspirational small-town romance soon.
The Last Mile Between Us by Heidi McCahan | Exclusive early release April 7, 2026
This is the third book in my new Welcome to Redemption, Alaska series and my personal favorite so far (don’t tell the other characters). It was a wild adventure to write! I like a sassy, hot-headed hero who needs an even-keeled heroine (with a few flaws of her own) to help him take things down a notch. The first two books are available now. I would love it if you preordered The Last Mile Between Us directly from the publisher.
Why Do You Read?
Have you ever wondered why you gravitate toward certain books or struggle to finish a book ‘everyone’ is raving about? In my opinion, our reading lives are more fulfilling when we understand our primary motivation for picking up a particular book.
Perhaps you read:
- to be entertained
- to be educated
- to temporarily escape
- to read what your friends are reading
One reason I love sharing spring TBR books that feel uplifting and encouraging is because I know that most likely my audience will find these recommendations helpful. Maybe your reading tastes don’t align with mine and that is totally fine. But if you’re in a reading slump, feeling overwhelmed by all the choices or you just like taking a quiz then…
Take My Free Quiz for Booklovers
I created a short free quiz to help you discover your reading motivation.
After you take the quiz, you can download a free PDF with book recommendations based on your result.
If you’d like, you can also sign up for my newsletter for more book recommendations, author news, and uplifting reading life content—but that’s completely optional.
