unknown2

Unknown. The dictionary defines it as an adjective meaning not known; not within the range of one’s knowledge, experience, or understanding; strange; unfamiliar.

We are in a season of the unknown. Of course all of life is a wild, spectacular journey into the unknown, isn’t it?

But our adventurous spirits are often squelched by unknown’s loathsome companion, fear, sucking the joy right out of our quest.

A vitriolic election campaign. A fierce hurricane. Challenging professional circumstances. The absence of employment. A health scare. A terminal diagnosis. Chronic pain. Broken relationships. Wayward children…

The shear volume of ‘unknowingness’ can paralyze us if we let it.

Thankfully, we serve a sovereign God who meets us right where we are.

“Then you will call upon me and come and pray with me, and I will hear you. You will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart.” -Jeremiah 29:12-14

“Draw near to God and he will draw near to you…” -James 4:8

“But for me it is good to be near God; I have made the Lord God my refuge, that I may tell of all your works.” -Psalm 73:28

“The Lord is near to the brokenhearted and saves the crushed in spirit.” -Psalm 34:18

“When you pass through the waters, I will be with you; and through the rivers, they shall not overwhelm you; when you walk through fire you shall not be burned, and the flame shall not consume you.” -Isaiah 43:2

“I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my eye upon you.” -Psalm 32:8
